It is truly amazing how fast a school year can fly by. When I began this program, I was very anxious and excited. I did not know what to expect from my mentor, my fellow interns or my students. I came into this program wanting to become a teacher, and now I am one. As I reflect on this past year, it is no wonder to me why this experience has been so successful. I came into the PDS program with an open mind, and had wonderful support from my mentor teacher, my liaison and my fellow interns. I am truly grateful for all the people I have met this past year and the experiences I have had. I have not only seen improvements in myself as a teacher, but also as a person. I am blessed to have worked with such a great staff and group of students. Hopefully they have learned as much from me as I have learned from them.

As I left my fifth graders today, I felt like no time had passed at all since I first walked into their classroom, although we all have grown. My feelings as I said goodbye to all the students were very bittersweet. Although I was sad to see them go, I was also excited to conquer the road that lies ahead. Professionally, my experiences have made me very confident in my abilities and ready to have my own classroom. This program gave me the opportunity to discover my strengths and weaknesses, and experience my first year of teaching with guidance and support. I am excited for the years to come for I cannot wait to use all the experiences and knowledge I have attained through this program to become an effective teacher.
