About Me

My name is Sara Taaffe. I’ve lived in the small town of Seneca, Illinois since I was 10 years old. I love to play sports, watch movies, go to the beach, and be around children.

My immediate family includes: my dad, my mom, my younger sister Selina, and my cat Ralph. I am also very close to my extended family which includes 16 aunts and uncles and 21 cousins. Of all of those 21 cousins I am the oldest, which means I have been able to watch each of them grow throughout the years.

I graduated from Seneca High School in May of 2003 and went to Joliet Junior College where I earned my Associates Degree of Arts in December of 2005. I then continued my education at Illinois State University where I earned my Bachelors Degree of Science in Elementary Education, with endorsements in Language Arts and Social Sciences in May 2007.

In the fall of 2006, I began my interning with the Pekin Professional Development School. I had the opportunity to be a part of District 108 for a year long student teaching experience. During my first semester, I spent the first eight weeks in a second grade classroom and the next eight weeks in a fifth grade classroom. I then returned to the same second grade classroom for my student teaching. I hope in the years to come I can implement into my own classroom all of the knowledge I have gained through this program.
