Educational Philosophy

“Education is not a preparation for life; education is life itself.” –John Dewey

One of the most important philosophies I follow is to teach students to become life-long learners.  People are constantly being introduced to new information and learning new information all the time; for example, learning a new job, learning to accommodate to new situations, and learning the many technologies available.  I want to promote life-long learning in my classroom.  To be apart of a student’s learning and to be a positive educator in one’s life is one of the greatest accomplishments of a teacher.

Throughout my student teaching experience I have made an attempt to work one-on-one with students to help encourage and motivate them.  It is very important to me that I have a positive teaching role in each student’s life.  I realized that by working one-on-one with students and demonstrating positive actions, knowledge of the content, and enthusiasm while teaching allowed for my students to be excited and want to learn.  I believe that all students should feel as if learning is necessary to become successful in life.
