Now that my year-long student teaching experience has come to a close, I can reflect back and see how my educational philosophy has developed.

I believe that my role as an educator is to:

* make sure that students are working within their Zone of Proximental Development in order for them to be challenged while also being able to handle what they are given.

* teach the academic curriculum required by the state and district as well as the social and emotional aspects of life that need to be addressed in order to be a well rounded person.

* create life-long learners who are always asking why? and wanting more.

* show enthusiasm to an extent where my students will be able to feed off the energy and become enthusiastic as well.

* create a safe environment which enables students to feel comfortable taking risks.

* see the students which have been placed in my care as unique individuals.
