Brandye Edwards' Professional Portfolio
Educational Philosophy

There are numerous qualities and virtues which continually guide and improve teachers and the way teachers teach. As a new teacher, I have looked for and used different virtues and qualities which encourage continued learning and continued growth outside of the classroom as much as inside the classroom.

I want to become a teacher who can create and maintain a sound, safe, and exciting learning environment for all my students. I want students to feel smart, encouraged, and free to make mistakes within my classroom even when they may not be the smartest and best at learning. Having virtues and qualities to guide me and my thoughts, helps to create all these desires I have for my class and students, as well as, much more.

With great enthusiasm, sensitivity, and the knowledge I gained from student teaching in my fourth grade classroom, I am more confident than ever before that my classroom will be an exciting and nurturing place for children to be able to learn. Each day of the year I continually remind myself to show my own enthusiasm, sensitivity, and knowledge of content to encourage the same from my students. By means of these virtues and others to guide me, I know I will continue to grow as a professional and will continue to impact the learning and minds of my future students.
