As a teacher, it is my goal to encourage a desire in students to become life-long learners. I believe I can instill the necessary strategies young learners need to be successful throughout their educational career. In the Pekin PDS, we follow the FISH! Philosophy, which I believe has given me the qualities to properly guide students in their learning adventures.
The FISH! philosophy, started by a Seattle fish market, sets the basis for a quality work environment. This philosophy works wonderfully in a classroom because it creates a language that the teacher and students can follow. By remembering the 4 components-MAKE THEIR DAY, PLAY, BE THERE, and CHOOSE YOUR ATTITUDE-I am able to create a welcoming learning environment that sets the stage for my own and my student's success.

By always keeping the FISH! philosophy in mind, I believe my own educational philosophy will have a solid basis. Of course, as I gain more experience in the field of teaching, my philosophy will grow and develop. No matter what though, my educational philosophy will always include the goal to create a learning environment conducive to creativity and one that produces life-long, independent learners.
