Educational Philosophy

"A hundred years from now it will not matter what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in, or the kind of car I drove . . . . but the world may be different because I was important in the life of a child." - Kathy Davis

As an educator, I believe it is my responsibility to inspire students to become life-long independent learners in an engaging hands-on environment.

During my internship with the Pekin Professional Development School, I was introduced to the FISH! Philosophy which I believe sets the foundation for a positive learning environment. This philosophy began in a fish market in Seattle, Washington and it has four components-MAKE THEIR DAY, BE THERE, PLAY, and CHOOSE YOUR ATTITUDE.  By keeping these components in mind, I can create a welcoming classroom in which I will encourage and motivate students to work hard and always try their best.

I believe that all students have the capability to learn and it is my job to help them reach their full learning potential.  As I gain more experience in the educational field, my philosophy will grow and develop but I will always keep the interest of my students in mind.  My overall goal is to ensure that I have made a positive impact in each and everyone of my student's lives.
