"To me, the sole hope of human salvation lies in teaching."
~George Bernard Shaw
My name is Elizabeth Hockman and my friends and family call me Libby. I grew up in Mt. Carroll and moved to Rockton, Illinois in 2000. Throughout High School, I spent a great deal of my time involved in Singsation, a jazz choir, and the annual musicals.
I have wanted to be a teacher since I was a little girl, taking inspiration from my mother who is an amazing teacher. This life-long goal lead me to go to Illinois State University for my Bachelors degree in Elementary Education, a school with a great education program.
My junior year led me to learn about the Pekin Professional Development (PDS) School which gave me the opportunity of a lifetime. I had the chance to experience a yearlong internship in the classroom in District 108. This was a great experience for me and I am now excited and ready to have my own classroom.
I will be graduating from ISU on May 10, 2008 and in the next month I will be marrying my boyfriend of 6 years. We plan on staying in the area and are excited to build our lives here. I look forward to continuing my professional growth while teaching in a school district that encourages life-long learning.
