Educational Philosophy

“The more that you read,

the more things you will know.

The more that you learn,

the more places you'll go.”

~Dr. Seuss

Throughout my experiences in the Pekin Professional Development School program, I have been able to develop my personal philosophy of education. Although there are many factors that contribute to student achievement, I believe that one of the most important is that the teacher demonstrates a belief that all students are capable of success. I believe that all students learn best in a safe and engaging classroom environment. It is important to maintain a safe learning environment for the students so that they feel comfortable asking questions, participating in classroom discussions and activities, and look forward to coming to school each day. Students should also work together to support one another’s learning.

Due to the diverse range of student abilities, talents, and learning styles found in every classroom, it is necessary to create lessons that are engaging, hands-on, integrate technology, and provide choice for the students. I believe that an effective educator models an enthusiasm and passion for learning. I believe that a teacher who is passionate about what they are teaching naturally passes this enthusiasm on to the students and inspires them to become interested as well. It is my goal to remain a life-long learner and inspire all of my students to become life-long learners and take pride in their education. All in all, a classroom should be a place full of enthusiasm, support, and creativity in which students are excited to come and learn.
