Reflections

When I decided to take part in the Professional Development School, I was not exactly sure what I had in store for me.  I knew that I would be provided with more time in the classroom, but I never knew how rewarding this experience would truly be! I feel so fortunate to have had this opportunity, not to mention the wonderful mentors, colleagues, and students that I did. This experience provided me with the chance to spend time in two different grade levels, third and fifth, where I obtained the skills and confidence of being an effective teacher.

I now feel very comfortable with the idea of having my own classroom.  I cannot wait to take my newly developed skills, and create and implement lessons that excite and intrigue my students' minds.  Although I will be nervous stepping into a new school, I will definitely be prepared to teach and manage a classroom of students.  I know that Pekin PDS has helped shape these skills, and I am very excited to see where it takes me and my students!

"No one has yet fully realized the wealth of sympathy, kindness, and generosity hidden in the soul of a child.  The effort of every true educator should be to unlock that treasure."

- Emma Golmam
