WELCOME

Methodist In School Health is here to improve the health of all District 108 students. Our goals are to keep students healthy, safe and ready to learn. We help the school district track students who are not compliant with physical, dental and immunization requirements. We can also assist you in finding health care providers for you and your family.

The services we offer include assessment of minor injuries of students while at school. We can administer medications and treatments if we have the proper physician and parental authorization. All medication must be in the original containers.

We are also trained to manage and care for chronic illnesses such as asthma, diabetes and seizures. We cannot diagnose any conditions, diseases or infections, nor can we treat these conditions without specific parent and physician written permission. We do not provide any counseling or mental health services.

Throughout the year In-School Health staff assists Jr High Athletes in obtaining low cost sports physicals in collaboration with local physicians.

Our services are provided by a Lead Registered Nurse, an LPN, and medical office assistants. Our nurses name is Karin Maybanks and  you may contact her at 309-477-4700 x 1390 or kmaybanks@pekin.net with any concerns you may have. We also have a LPN whose name is Diane Garman and she may be contacted at 309-477-4700 x 2257 or  dgarman@pekin.net. She helps manage the needs of our students as well. There are Medical Office Assistants based at each school's Health Center. They are the first person you should call with questions or concerns and they are in constant contact with the RN and LPN if they need guidance.

All of our services are free of charge. Please feel free to contact your child's health center if you ever have any concerns.

in writing to your child's Health center.

Wuzzy Bear

If your child is in a Primary School you may hear him/her talk about Wuzzy Bear. Wuzzy is a Teddy Bear that visits the classroom and educates kids on health and safety topics. It has been a successful tool for this. If you would like to suggest a topic please contact your child's health center.
