CHARACTER EDUCATION
Fourth grade students at Wilson are working on character development. We are looking at six character qualities such as trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and
citizenship.
Trustworthiness means we tell the truth, keep our promises, and do the right thing. We know we can trust a friend who is honest.
Respect means that we treat others the way we want to be treated. Sometimes we refer to this as "The Golden Rule".
Responsibility is making good choices, doing
what is right, and being accountable for our behavior. We take ownership for our own behavior. We work diligently to complete homework each day.
Fairness means we play by the rules, are open minded, and treat people right. We take turns and share with others, especially on the playground at recess time.
Caring is all about being kind, helpful, and giving and valuing the feelings of others. Caring is more about what we do than how we feel.
Citizenship teaches us how to work to make Wilson Intermediate School and our community a better place in which to live. Students are becoming aware that they can experience satisfaction and benefits from being a good citizen.
Students are learning that "Character Does Count".
