First graders worked on becoming master vegetable gardners this spring. They studied about seeds and what is needed to make them sprout and grow. In the Learning Center they learned about different kinds of vegetable seeds and vegetable plants. A poster and plant dictionary was then created showing what they had learned.

Color, cut, and paste - this is fun!

So that's what a pumpkin
seed looks like?

The pictures below show what the students did in the classroom:

  • made seed collections
  • had a farmer visit
  • did a variety of seed, plant, and flower activities
  • planted a vegetable garden in a large swimming pool
