Attendance:
Matt Green, Jerry Norman, Jamie Dinkins, Joanne Barfield, Stan Fitzanko, and Becky Walker.Minutes of the last meeting were approved.
Quality Assurance Update: SILT members will meet with the review team Wednesday, February 6 from 4:30 – 5:30 PM. STAT members will meet with the review team the same evening from 5:30 – 6:30 PM. For the Feb 7th classroom visits, SILT members directed Stan Fitzanko as principal to select the ten teachers who will be visited. Teachers will represent different teams and subject areas.
Delta issues from the Jan. survey were discussed. Topics to discuss in teams and bring back to SILT for feedback are 1. schedule issues: pros and cons of this year’s schedule, suggestions for next year’s schedule, and a representative from each team to work on the schedule committee. This committee will be scheduling 8th grade counselor visits, ISAT testing, as well as next year’s schedule; 2. Disrespect for subs: Teams need to discuss how they prepare for subs, prep the students in homeroom, talk about how the teams can work with the subs, and plan what happens to disrespectful students after subs are gone.
The Carl Canon assembly received all positive feedback. Carl will return for a follow up assembly on Feb 6 at 8:15 AM.
ISAT tests will be given the first two weeks after return from spring break. The scheduling committee will plan how this will be done.
Student-led Conferences for Feb/March: This is a district wide activity and the overall purpose is for students to show their parents their improvement over the year. Teams can target at-risk students by holding these conferences in another room with 2 teachers at a time. The schedule for the conferences needs to again be the same throughout all teams to include the exploratory and special education teachers. Teams will get their vote to SILT and Stan Fitzanko on Jan. 23 at 3 PM.
IESA March Madness is March 13, from 8 – 12 AM at the Peoria Civic Center. Stan Fitzanko has reserved enough tickets for the entire school and teams need to let him know if they plan to participate or not.
Discourse Lab Cleanout: Teachers are to check the room and list of items and let Claudie Huey know if they want to keep any materials in the room. Otherwise, the room will be cleaned out on Friday, January 25.
Upcoming Dates: School Spelling Bee will be February 8 in the Edison Learning Center, which will be closed from 8 AM to 9AM that day for the event.
Fundraiser: Staff needs to get together a list of items needing to be purchased by the committee before they meet in a few weeks.
Respectfully submitted,
Becky Walker
