The greatest athlete in
the history of baseball is Babe Ruth. Babe Ruth is the first person
to ever hit the most homeruns in the history
of baseball in the 1920's. In 1936 he was accepted
in the Hall of Fame. September
30, 1927, Babe hit his 60th homerun! That was the most he hit all
season.
Today in the year 1999 Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa are the best leading

60 home runs in back to back season. As of the last game of the season
Mark has hit 65 home runs and Sammy has hit 63 home runs. They are the
only players to ever hit a back to back 60-60 homeruns.
Only Babe Ruth and Mark McGwire, Sammy Sosa, and Roger Maris have broken
the 60 home run plateau in one season. Mark McGwire holds the major league
