Issue: Life Imprisonment Vs Death Penalty
The Case of the Kim Jo Smith Murder
(Based on a true story)
By Carey King, Dan Kitchll,
Chris Mulvaney, and Jenny Christianson

When Kim Jo Smith went home late in the evening as she usually did, she wasn’t expecting any thing different, but unfortunately she should have. She had no idea that 22-year-old Mark Chippens had intended to break in to her
Skeleton house, but when she heard someone walking around in her house she knew something was amiss. She crept down the stairs thinking it was just her cat looking for mice, but the thing that greeted her was defiantly not her cat, it was Mark.
Kim ran to the phone to call 911, but he gagged her and dragged her to hiscar out side of her house. Mark then raped and killed her and her unborn twins. He later dumped her into a nearby lake. Mark was found convicted and sentenced to LIFE.
We all agree that if Kim were our sister we would want to have Mark Chippens serve a triple life sentence in a super-max prison. We think this because we have heard about the strictness of these kinds of prisons and they don’t even let the convicts out of their cells. We think this would be harder then death.
