Cop Quits After Restaurant Incident
By: Betty Hilt, Nick Ruder, Kayla Charvat, and Russ Draffen
In Peoria an off duty cops became mad because of slow service so he pulled his gun and shot into the sky.  Terry Durkee turned in his badge after the incident.  Terry Durkee is 35-years-old and he was not asked to resign.  He quit on his own will.  This incident happened at Steak’n Shake
on Main Street.  Terry was charged with aggravated assault and disorderly conduct.  If Terry is convicted then he will face up to 13 months in jail.  The way we feel about this incident is, if this incident would not have happened, Terry would not have to face 13 months in jail or give his job up.  The service might have been slow but he had no right to pull his gun and shoot.  This put people in danger and
put himself in jail.  After this incident let’s hope it never happens again. Now comments from Officer Bitner, Edison School Police Liaison.
