It all began when Edison
Junior High School decided to have a cake auction. The auction money that
was raised would go to an animal shelter called TAPS. TAPS stands for Tazewell
Animal Protection Society. The teachers, students, and student council
gave their opinions about this event. This is what they had to say!
How exactly did student
council get the idea for the cake auction? Colin Richason, Coach Norman’s
student council representative says, “Our principal wanted to do another
auction!” Colin says he was happy about how much money the home rooms
brought for T.A.P.S. “ I had fun,” said Chris, the representative for Ms.
Foster’s homeroom, when I asked him what he thought about standing up in
front of everybody to bid for the cakes. Both Chris and Colin were happy
about the money that was raised, “ because it was a good cause,” they said.
That is the view given by two of the student council representatives.
Students also
had a big role in the cake auction. They brought money in to their homerooms.
We asked some students what they thought about the auction. Kasey, a 7th
grader from Mrs. Fosters homeroom said, “I had fun, because we didn’t have
to do any homework.” Mrs. Foster’s homeroom got brownies with icing and
M&M’s. All the students that were interviewed agreed that the money
that was raised went to a good cause.
We also interviewed
teachers because they had a big part in the cake auction. They had to bake
the cakes. Teachers kept reminding their student to bring money in for
the auction. One of the teachers used their credit card to donate 80 dollars.
Miss Shock said, "I thought the auction was neat , it was for a good
cause, and the students responded positively with the money and the cake
auction."
When the auction was
over the students went back to their homerooms and ate the cakes they bought.
At the end, the animals at TAPS got over one thousand dollars. We think
that the money went to a good cause and the animals should be happy. The
cakes that the teachers brought were excellent and we’re happy for the
animals at TAPS.
