Beth Ewing's Shuttle Page
Panther Paw
Hi!  I would like to welcome you to my very own web page!  My name is Beth Ewing and I am a seventh grader at Edison Jr. High School in Pekin, Illinois.  As a seventh grader at Edison, I am on the basketball team, volleyball team, student council, and recieve high honors.  For two years I have gone to the Summer of Wonder Gifted Program at Bradley University.  I took the class "Rocketry and Flight" and "Advanced Rocketry and Flight."  I hope to take the class next year.  Lately, I have been learning a lot about Scott Altman and the space program.  There were 65 students that applied for the trip.  To apply, we had to write an essay.  On the essays the teachers were looking for good citizenship, good attendance in school, a C or higher in all subjects, to be able to make a year long commitment, and to be willing to learn more about technology.  Edison Jr. High School could only take eight students on the Florida space journey.  The four eighth graders going are: Lyn Apa, Michelle Oltman, Jacob Bland, and Aaron Hoffman The four seventh graders going are: Lesley Long, Kevin Jones, Matt Rineberg, and myself, Beth Ewing.  We will be going down to Florida on April 14, 1998 to witness the launch.  We will be so close  we will feel the heat.    A few weeks later there was a contest to make a patch that would go up into space.  There were 60 students that applied for this contest.  Jacob Bland was the winner of the patch contest.  His patch was computer designed and very artistic.  We were each assigned a project to do with Scott Altman or space.  My project was do an interview of Scott's family and close friends.  I would like to thank you for taking the time to read my webpage!
