ASBO
International Meritorious Budget Award (MBA)
The
MBA award is given for standards of excellence in budget
presentation and reporting. In order to receive the award, the business official
had to satisfy specific guidelines for effective budget
presentation and reporting recognized by school business
officials throughout North America. The MBA award is only conferred to school systems
that have met or exceeded the MBA program criteria. The 2006-2007 school year was the fourth time
the district applied for and won this award. Any school entity, including school districts,
colleges and universities, and educational service units,
is eligible to participate.
In
these financially challenging times it is imperative
that a school district's annual budget clearly communicate
how funds are being allocated to meet the goals and
objectives of the district's strategic plan. The 193-page award document includes relevant
information in both graphic and narrative form. The document is user-friendly for the average
taxpayer as well as detail-oriented for an expert to
understand the budgeting process used by the school
district and detailed information about the various
funds and their uses.

Meritorious Budget Award go

International website
for achieving this high standard of excellence.
