Daily Arrival
[top]
Bus students have a set time of arrival at Pekin Public
Schools. All District 108 students who walk to school
should not arrive until 10 minutes before the start of
school. Parents and students are urged to adhere to these
rules. They have been established for the safety of your
children, as supervision does not begin until the times
indicated. Students arriving earlier than the designated
times will be reminded of these rules. Parental contact
will be made by the principal’s office if a student continues
to disregard the time set for arrival. |
Leaving
Early [top]
Students may not leave school during the day except upon
written request from a parent or guardian. All students
requiring an early dismissal must obtain an approved permit
from the school office to give to the instructor. All
students must check out at the office. Any student returning
from an early dismissal must stop and sign in at the school
office. |
Reporting
Illness [top]
Students
are required by Illinois State Law to be regular in attendance.
Regular pupil attendance in school is essential to each
child’s continuous intellectual growth. Education is long-range
and sequential and is hampered by absence. All students
are required to attend school in the attendance center
to which they have been assigned by official action. The
following are acceptable absences: Pupil
illness, Bereavement, Quarantine, Family emergencies,
Religious holidays, Medical appointments, Court appearances,
Other reasons with approval of principal.
It is important that we keep in good communication relative
to student attendance. Students need to be in school
for academic learning to occur. School personnel will
attempt to be in contact with you within the first two
hours of the attendance day if a call is not received
on the first day of an absence. A student may return
to school from an absence at any time during the day.
All students must report to the school office when returning
the same day that the absence occurs. In addition, junior
high students will report to the school office upon
arrival at school following an absence the previous
day. Students are required to bring a written note from
a parent or guardian stating the specific reason for
the absence. The student must present this note at the
school office before going to class or to the teacher
(intermediate and primary). Students who have been absent
because of a contagious disease must have a doctor’s
written permission to return to school. The following
