Grant FY 01 Allocation Comments
Title I $921,645 Literacy support for students at risk of failure.  
     Combines with funds from the district and other grants to support Literacy Leaders, Reading Recovery, Writing to Read, Learning Center Assistants, and Counselors.  Funds must be allocated to building in proportion to free and reduced lunch.
Title II $25,752 Professional development in math and science.
     Expended mostly on substitutes and stipends for curriculum study and instructional improvement.
Title IV $37,166 Safety and drug prevention activities. 
     Combines with funds from the district and other grants to provide Family Literacy classes in grades 5 & 7, DARE, Liaison Officer, and counselors.
Title VI $29,323 Instructional software and materials that support SAI.
Gifted Education $41,927 Salaries and supplies for educationg the gifted.
Staff Devmn't $53,343 Professional development for school improvement.
K-6 Reading Improvement $253,601 Instruction of students at risk of failure related to reading.
   
 Combines with funds from Title I to support Reading Recovery.
Class Size Reduction $138,763 Reduce class sizes in primary schools. 
     Supports 3 teachers in grade 3.
TOTAL $1,501,520 $12,046 less than last year, overall
