Below is a list of frequently asked questions about Salary and Benefits. Select a question to view the answer.

 

How do I apply for tuition reimbursment? [top]
The District willl pay teachers $90 per semester hour for an approved course of study in 2001 - 2002.

Reimbursement or tuition waivers perperson are limited to one course of up to 4 hours per semester, with no limit during the summer semester.

Tuition waivers from the District pool will be distributed by the same procedures as reimbursements. Tuition paid with waivers from the District pool may not be submitted for reimbursement.

Course Approvals/Application For Reimbursement forms are available from your principal. Forms must be turned in to Central Office by the following cut-off dates:

Falll Semester - October 1
Spring Semester -February 1
Summer Semester - July 1

Reimbursement will be paid after a grade slip/transcript has been turned in to Central Office. Checks are disseminated following approval at the next board meeting.


How do I get Professional Development Academy Compensation? [top]
District 108 Professional Development Academy includes all District sponsored classes which lead to salary enhancement.

The District will pay eligible teachers $100 for each credit hour of teacher academy course work completed. Eligible employees are defined as those in the BA 30 or MA 30 columns of the salary schedule and not in a degree program. Credit hours are defined as one (1) hour completed for every sixteen clock hours of direct instruction.

Forms are available at the Central Office to submit for compensation. They may be submitted any time after completion of a credit hour.


How do I confirm the status of the Seniority List? [top]
The District 108 Seniority List is established and distributed by October 1 of each school year. Challenges to the list will be received at Central Office until November 30. The final list will be published on December 1.

In order to qualify for addition on a list, the teacher must be certified and qualified according to Illinois State Board of Education standards. Validation of such qualifications from the ISBE is the teachers responsibility


How do I confirm the status of the Annual Employee Update? [top]
By October 1, each teacher will receive a statement detailing accumulated sick leave, salary, experience, credits, seniority ranking, longevity, and differentials. The satement of seniority will consist of areas of certification and years of seniority within the district.


How do I confirm the status of my worksheet four hours above my degree? [top]
Worksheets listing your hours above your degree are maintained in your personnel file. These are used as verification for salary lanes as well as seniority list tie breakers

To have a course placed on your worksheet you must provide acourse approval sheet and a grade slip or transcript to Central Office.


How do I confirm the status of a salary schedule lane change? [top]
It is the teacher's responsibility to notify Central Office when they are ready to change lanes on the salary schedule. The deadline to submit a form to make such a change is the last working day in August, or on or before January 10. Verification in the form of an official transcript is required by the state.
