Dirksen
Primary School provides opportunities for faculty, staff,
and parents to assume shared leadership
positions and responsibilities. Our School
Instructional Leadership Team (SILT) meets monthly as
an empowered, site-based decision-making team to review issues,
concerns, or items that have been brought to its attention.
SILT agendas (Sept
- Oct - Nov
- Dec - Jan),
meeting roles, and summaries are available for review.
Our school’s
faculty and staff participate in five school improvement planning
days as scheduled on the district
calendar. These days allow us to further develop the
learning climate of our school through planning activities
that enhance our school goal of student achievement especially
in the areas of reading and writing. (SIP Day Agendas: Sept
- Oct
- Jan)
To maintain
an environment that supports developmentally appropriate practices,
we implement a wide range of programs provided by District
108. These programs support children of diverse abilities,
needs, and strengths. Such programs include: Literacy Services/Reading
Recovery, Special Education, Connections, Learning Center
Technology, First Choice After School Activities, and Latch
Key. At Dirksen School, Learning Center activities are further
supported with technology
support provided for home. Our
learning
communities can access a process for assessing children
strengths and weaknesses and for developing a plan of assistance.
