WHAT
IS IT?
The lotus diagram
is an analtyical, organizational tool for breaking broad
topics into components, which can be prioritized for implementation.

WHEN
IS IT USED?
The lotus diagram
can be used when the topic is:
- Complex or
has many details to be learned.
- Needs to be
organized visually to help students organize thoughts
or develop themes.

HOW
IS IT MADE?
- Determine
the topic to be studied and state it clearly.
- Using either
brainstorming, affinity diagram, NGT, or multi-voting,
narrow and prioritize the major topics.
- Write the
main topic in the center of the rectangle of the lotus
diagram.
- Place each
of the eight subtopics in the rectangles surrounding the
center rectangle.
- Transfer each
of the sub-topics to its corresponding numbered rectangle
and brainstorm more subtopics or applications.
