The Jefferson KidConnect Program celebrated another successful year with a "thank-you" party for our mentors. KidConnect (a subcommittee of Tazwell County Project Success) is a special community collaborative effort as businesses allow employees work time to mentor in the schools. This year we had 5 mentors from Herget Bank and 1 mentor from Pekin Insurance who came in and met with their student once a week. The students would read, work on math, share experiences, and have fun with their mentors. The impact of a caring adult showing interest in a child's education is tremendous; and Jefferson School benefited from over 100 hours of mentor time this year. |
A special thanks to our Herget Mentors: Deauna Collins, Marilyn Felts, Michael Krohe, Laura Maas, Hope McAllister, Craig Wells; and our Pekin Insurance Mentor: Mindy Weiss. |
