  • We are prompt dependent.
  • We will agree upon monthly set mode and prompts.
  • We provide inconsistent prompts and modes.
  • We will "Stop, Drop, and Write (5-10 minute discussion on the topic)—no writing.
  • We have various interpretations of the Scoring Rubric.
  • We will develop consistency by sharing during grade level time.
  • The writing tools (analyzer, radar, revisions) we implemented built awareness in students.
  • We will continue with writing tools and adjust the analyzer and revision sheet for the beginning of the year.
  • Students enjoy writing for a purpose rather than a "cold prompt."
  • Continue using themes to generate writing prompts.
  • We provided inconsistent time frames for students to complete writing assignments.
  • We will agree upon a time allotment for completing writing tasks in decreasing increments throughout the year to a target of 45 minutes.
  • Small groups met the needs of individuals.
  • Incorporate small groups into literacy time (1:30 to 3:00 daily).
  • The rubric focused on quantity rather than quality.
  • Take another look at the rubric.
