Our June School Improvement day was spent analyzing writing data that we had collected throughout the year. The writing data for each grade level was used as well as other information during our SIP day in June. Some teachers collected data over 7 months while others collected data beginning in January. Therefore, the grade level charts will show an increase in the number of errors at writing #3. This peak is natural and is the result of including more students. Every grade level has this phenomenon.
At our SIP day we will discussed Evidence / Knowledge of Results (What did we learn?). This data helped us learn something. We probably also learned some other things as well. We used evidence of other learning that happened during our study of student writing. These learnings could be writing prompts, organizers, analyzers, writing posters or reminders-virtually any thing we learned from this study. We took those learnings and made Recommendations (What do we need to do differently?). These are grade level commitments that we will all do next year.
