Pekin Public School District is proud to offer a latch key program.
The program is housed in each of the primary and intermediate schools
in the district and is administered by the principal of the building.
The program is totally supported by the fees generated and no tax
dollars are used to fund the program. The program at each school
operates independently under the direction of the principal. The
program at each site is staffed by a lest one adult latch key supervisor.
In certain instances, where enrollment necessitates, additional
staff is employed to assist in supervision. The District 108 Latch
Key Program operates on days when children are in attendance for
at least half of the day. Services may be available on institute
days if at least five children enroll for the day. Fees for institute
days are separate from the normal rate. Parents of children enrolled
in the program will be contacted about interest in services for
institute days in advance. The daily program includes breakfast
and an afternoon snack. Programming at each site may include small
group activities, quiet time, crafts, art, large and small motor
activity, and supervised play.
The District 108 Latch Key Program operates on a prearranged basis.
In order to provide adequate supervision and food, children must
be pre-enrolled in the program. Parents are billed for services
and payment is due in advance. Save all receipts for your tax records.
The District 108 Latch Key Program hours of operation are daily
from 6:30 a.m. to the start of the school day and from the end of
the school day until 6:00 p.m. Children may be enrolled for any
number of days during the week and may stay for any amount of time
within the hours of program operation. Children may be enrolled
for the morning session, afternoon session or both.
