Leadership Team

Leadership Team met on Tuesday, October 21. Below is a summary of our activities. Suzanne and Shelly were absent.

• We determined the criteria for the selection of our facilitator.
• The facilitator must have at least one year of experience on leadership team.
• The facilitator will serve for at least two years.
• Previous facilitators will mentor new facilitators.

• After lengthy discussion we selected Tiffany and Marian as co-facilitators for the remainder of this year and next year. Tiffany’s term will be up at the end of this year and she will stay on for another year.
• I shared with you a draft of the staff survey on shared decision making (attached). We reviewed it to make sure that all of the topics from our September meeting were covered. We will administer the survey at a staff meeting. We want to be sure that those who take the survey understand that shared decision making occurs in a variety of places in our school—not just the Leadership Team.
• We discussed PTA fund raising. Stephanie will take our recommendations to the PTA at the November meeting. Those recommendations include:
• Binding machine
• Teacher stipends
• Bus for 1 field trip
• Books for the learning center

• We talked about conducting a parent survey at conferences. Communication was the focus of our last survey, and there was not a significant number of parent responses. We decided that we would not only schedule conferences but also a time for parents to take the survey. Also we noted that having greeters to encourage people to take the survey was a strategy that increased participation.
• One item on the parent survey will be to get at the issue of informational meeting for parents at the beginning of the year.
• Our next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, November 25 at 4:30. It is unlikely that we will meet in December. Results of the staff survey will be on the November agenda. Other topics will be set by Marian, Tiffany and Jeff.
