Public Access
 
Our Goal(s):Develop and expand the Pekin Community Network to provide access to all schools, libraries, and free public access sites, and provide dial-up access and checkout laptops for home use.
 

Our Result(s):


Pekin Public Library

Established 20+ free Internet accessible workstations (T-1 access). Five laptop computers are also available for public checkout. Free "Introduction to the Internet" classes are offered once a week. Student and adult volunteers are used to monitor the lab and to instruct the classes.

Miller Center
Established 11 free Internet accessible workstations(with DSL connection). Free and low-cost training sessions are available on a regular occurring basis.

District 108 offers laptop checkout
District 108 had previously offered open lab times in all of our building, however, there was minimal response. We therefore switched our efforts to making laptop computers available to our students. Each building has at least 2 laptops available.

 

Union Mission
Established 5 free Internet accessible workstations (with DSL connection). The lab is open during misison hours.
