LC2000 PARTNERSHIP BOARD
Civics Task Force Update
1. The Civics Task Force will be co-facilitated by Frank Mackaman, Chuck Bowen, and two teachers.
2. The first meeting is scheduled for the Dirksen Center on November 12.
3. This year's focus will be the creation of curriculum units based
upon local community issues using CongressLink as a model: "Pekin
Government Link"
Skills & Training Task Force Update
1. The Skills and Traianing Task Force met once in October, and the next meeting is scheduled for November 13.
2. The task force is addressing issues related to setting up public
access sites for training.
Infrastructure Update
1. The Infrastructure Task Force has not met, since its pending issues are related to bringing public access sites onto the network.. The group will begin meeting once the access sites are defined and identified.
Learning Community Task Force Update
1. The Learning Community Task Force met once as a whole group. Sub groups will meet across the year.
2. Currently, sub groups include: Arts & Recreation, Health Care, and Education.
3. Other sub groups may form as the year continues.
Public Access Subcommittee Update
1. Public Access Subcommittee has met several times.
2. The subcommittee is waiting for Training and Skills Task Force decisions before continuing.
Organization Subcommittee Update
1. The subcommittee has met twice.
2. Organizational issues for by-laws have been identified.
3. The subcommittee is analyzing the issues wit respect to the needs of LC2000.
4. The subcommittee will bring recommended language to the Board.
Infrastructure Subcommittee Update
1. The Infrastructure Subcommittee will ascertain the partners' needs for technical support personnel. The subcommittee will bring a proposal to the Board.
