Public Access
Primary goal: Increase public
access via three venues:
Pekin Public Library. Additional stations will be installed in the library. The POs have been cut. The library will be up by March 15. District 108: Schools will take on primary responsibility for providing public access. They will provide supervision of open lab times in exchange for the profits of school-provided public training workshops. The principals meet next week to discuss procedures for the schools. Pekin Park District. The Miller Senior Center staff will meet with the committee on Friday. |
Volunteers
Brian is coordinating the volunteer program. We have advertised for volunteers on our web site. We have been receiving one application per day. We have more volunteers than we will need until after the Library is up and running. |
Sustainability
The Sustainability subcommittee met two weeks ago. The committee is preparing a budget that specifies needs to be sustained. Once we have that, it will be possible to generate plans to provide the needed funds. The committee is considering a number of revenue sources, including the sale of server space, specialized training and support for web pages, and consulting services. The committee meets again Friday. |

We may also provide webmaster training and storage space on the LC2000 server. The Community Career and Technology Corporation in Peoria is seeking for us to exchange links. If board members have questions, they should e-mail them to Guy. Guy will ask for a decision in March. The construction of civicNET will not be funded by the e-rate, although we could use those funds to lease common carrier service.
