LC 2000 Training & Skills Task Force UPDATE June 21, 1997


The Training & Skills Task Force met June 17, 1997 from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. in the

Our agenda:
Review LC 2000 Learning Community Task Force Final Recommendations
Identify Key Components "IMPACTING" our group's goals
Confirm our KEY "Stakeholders" (Who?)
Self-selection: future team work with designated focus training groups
Confirmation of future dates to meet as subgroups
Revisit of last month's meeting/core work
Confirm "What's next? When? Who?"

We reviewed the final report and recommendations of the LC 2000 Learning Community Task Force. Members present reviewed the document independently and then shared, discussed what key components and/or recommendations of the Learning Community Task Force final report would have a direct impact on our team's work.

From the LC 2000 Learning Community Task Force's final report, the following "IMPACTS" were mutually identified by our group :
needs assessment to determine necessary skills
staffing needs, train within current partners - train the trainers model
set clear priorities (in terms of training needs)
alliance with partners, sustainability of trainers - EXPAND the pool of trainers, volunteers, 108/303 staff to carry out actions
utilize variety of citizens to assist with WWW pages (train the trainer model)
maintain, monitor and provide support to public access sites
develop an action plan with a timetable @ public access sites (hours, staff, accessibility)
security is a major issue (equipment, site, personal)
commitment and responsibilities of site - security protocols known/implemented
internet/e-mail training (along with access)

KEY stakeholders to train ..
Senior citizens
20-50 year old adults (those in and out of the work force)
Parents (special target group: socially/economically disadvantaged)
Parents (K-12 grade level students)
LC 2000 partners (those to be trainers - who?, type of training?)
