From the youngest to the oldest of students,

everyone is welcome to learn at the

Preschool Family Education Center!

What does the Preschool Family Education Center

have for you?

Adult Education

GED classes offer individualized instruction for parents working on academic subject areas in preparation for taking the GED exam. Opportunities to learn more about basic life and parenting skills, as well as pursuing career and college goals are available. PACT (Parent and Child Time) is enjoyed by parents and their Infant/Toddler children on site.

Infant/Toddler

Parents enrolled in the Adult Education classes may have their Infants and Toddlers attend the play-based, developmentally appropriate program which encourages growth, development, and learning for the center's youngest students between the ages of six weeks to two years. PACT and Parenting are two important activities to the class.

Preschool

Play-based, developmentally appropriate learning activities are provided in the areas of language and speech, social development, fine and gross motor skills, and pre-readiness skills for children between the ages of three and five.

Early Childhood

Special Education

Programming is provided for children three to six years old with unique needs in speech/language, social, physical, intellectual, behavioral, or other developmental areas. Play-based, developmentally appropriate learning activities are provided. IEP's (Individual Education Plans) are developed for each child.

Health Services

A full time Health Clerk is available to children and families daily. The Health Clerk's duties are to treat minor illnesses and injuries, administer medications having proper documentation from the child's physician and parent, screen for head lice, and monitor students for communicable diseases. Providing health information to children and families is essential.

Support Services

Speech, Occupational, and Physical Therapies are available for children that qualify for these services. Eligibility is based upon the appropriate screening conducted.

Family Counseling services are also available.

Family Literacy Center/Activities

Family activities are held throughout the school year to promote children and parents learning while having fun-together! Families are invited to attend the Center's Open House/Christmas Program, Family Nights, and Parent Workshops to enjoy special time with one another and learn about individual interests. The school's Family Literacy Center offers the opportunity for parents, children, and staff to check out resources for use both at school and at home.

Technology for parents and children is also available in the Family Literacy Center. Parents recently participated in a center-wide Satisfaction Survey on line.

Screening

Children Birth to Five years of age are eligible to participate in Screenings held throughout the school year. Each child's development is assessed in areas of language, memory, gross and fine motor ability, and perceptual skills. Vision and hearing is also checked. Family needs are determined and considered for program eligibility.
