Building Needs Assessment - A.
J. distributed the Facility and Capital Items That Need to Be Maintained,
Reparied or Replaced for 2002-2003. Silt members reviewed and discussed
it to see what changes were needed. Members brainstormed continuing
needs to include toilets, zoned security, air conditioning, working
locks on classroom doors, keyless entry, dry erase boards, classroom
sinks, automatic doors, and a new gym or lunchroom. Members then
light voted their top three choices. Toilets received the most votes
with 9, working locks on classroom doors was next with 6, keyless
entry had 5, dry erase boards and classroom sinks each had 3, and
a new gym had 1 vote.
Keys for Staff - Becky
discussed her conversation with Chuck Bowen about having additional
building keys. Chuck explained that if one key is lost from a building,
then security for that building has been breeched. With keyless
entry, if someone loses a key, that key can be disabled easily by
computer. A.J. said that he would make a survey for all staff regarding
building keys.
End of the Day Procedures - On
days when Peak is being held for kids, there is too much congestion
in the hallway. A discussion was held about the various dismissal
times and how we can make the hallways safer. Jan suggested that
second and third grade teachers could drop Peak students off at
Room 12 when they take their walkers out at the end of the day.
Wendy, the Peak supervisor, could pick up the kindergarteners and
1st graders, allowing her to stay on schedule. Angie suggested that
Wendy could put a note on each teacher's door after she arrives
at 2:00 p.m. listing the Peak participants for that day. A.J. will
talk to Wendy about making some changes.
Other - Linda asked
about the specific times for the Halloween parade and parties this
year. Lunch will be from 12:15 - 1:15 p.m.. The parade will be at
1:30, followed by classroom parties. A.J. will finalize this schedule
and communicate with staff and parents, since the times are slightly
different than in past years.
