SIP Day Lunch Times
Jan mentioned that the district has allowed individual schools
to have lunch on a SIP day from 12:30 - 3:30 or 12:45 to3:45, instead
of mandating one time for everyone. SILT members will take this
back to their constituents to find out which time the majority prefers.
Aramark Services
Don and Vickie from Aramark attended the SI:LT meeting to discuss
our building needs related to Aramark services. Don distirbuted
copies of the survey that principals fill out each month to rate
daily cleanliness, attention to detail, communication, follow up
and overall performance. Don would like to have SILT members complete
a survey, too. He mentioned that his staff is going to start adding
an enzyme to the urinals in the boys' bathrooms in order to control
the odor.
Jenny asked Julie about food choices for kindergarten students
and whether or not we had to allow 5 and 6 year olds to choose just
an entre and milk, instead of putting on their plate what's listed
on the school menu. Mary Ellen said that we used to put a little
bit of side dishes on students' plates. Julie said that her staff
now has to ask each child what he/she wants and not give them anything
else. Jenny requested that sides be put on the line in hopes that
more children would eat enough food, and Julie said that she could
do that. A.J. said that he would talk to Matt about making some
changes. Julie said that she would start putting out sample cups
of fruits and vegetables for the students to try.
Flex Time Procedures
A.J. reviewed flex time procedures and asked if there were questions.
Gail asked what to do if something changed once the schedule was
sent to A.J. A.J. said just to send him an e-mail or send a revised
schedule noting the changes.
A discussion was held about conference times and what time teachers
could leave if their conferences were finished. A. J. said that
he would let staff members know by next Wednesday.
Other
Mrs. Barton suggested having a reward program for a limited
number of students each week. Gloria said that she would prefer
not to reward just a few students. She would prefer a program that
would reward the whole class. A discussion was held but no decision
was made.
