SILT Minutes
February 12, 2003
SILT members discussed the budget reduction options e-mailed earlier
to all staff members by Perry Soldwedel. Cindy asked for suggestions,
since she has to report any concerns or suggestions to Perry right
away. Concerns were discussed, but no suggestions were made.
Cindy shared the mid-year review of the Smith budget.
Jan White presented the schedule developed by the Smith Tech Committee
for March grade level meetings. Cindy explained how the schedule
will work, using specialists to cover the classes of teachers who
are meeting. Grade level meetings will take place from 7:40
9:45 a.m. on four Mondays in March, beginning on March 10th.
Jan shared a proposed P.E. schedule created by Lucy Elliot. Her
proposal allows for three 20 minute sessions per class weekly instead
of two 30 minute sessions. SILT members will take her proposal back
to their constituents to find out how everyone feels.
The next SAI writing samples are due by Febuary 24th.
Jenny Holcomb discussed the upcoming open house from 5:00
7:00 P.M. on February 20th.
Jan announced that third graders will present a patriotic play
on March 27th at 6:30 p.m. at Edison School.
Members discussed needing ladders to reach the top storage shelves
in classrooms. Jan and Becky will check local stores for the best
options.
The new data base for books was discussed. There have been questions
raised about how much information to put, whether or not to put
books owned by individuals, and how to categorize topics. Becky
will look at the program and talk to Angie Arnold with questions.
