SILT Minutes-September 12, 2001 Review of Evaluations Cindy shared the results of the SILT evaluations taken at the end of last year and the August Retreat information concerning comfort levels in the following areas: Student Writing Survey, Smith Rubric, PDSA Process, Goal Setting, 4 Blocks/Building Blocks, and Writers Workshop. The results were very positive. A decision was made to revamp the SILT evaluations. Your SILT representative has the data collected from each of these surveys. Budget Review for 2001-02 Cindy shared the projected budget for 2001-02. Your SILT representative has this information if you care to see it. She explained codes and their use. Allocations received by Smith School from District 108 are based on student population. This year less money was received due to a decline in student numbers. Reallocated textbook funds are divided equally between grades 1-3. Kindergarten has a separate fund. Remember each teacher has $50.00 for miscellaneous expenses! Latchkey is full and has 18 on a waiting list. It became necessary to hire an additional person for the p.m. Jessica Holmes, Carols daughter, has filled this position. District Teams Smith School needs a Social Studies representative to serve on the District team. Please consider volunteering for this position. Smith will continue to host all District grade level meetings this year. A discussion was held regarding using the same classroom or going on a rotation basis. Disaster Drill/Security Issue Some teachers have expressed a concern regarding the first Tuesday of the month disaster siren, because it cant be heard by all classes. A discussion was held regarding the Fourteenth Street exit door being propped open. This is a security concern and is highly discouraged.
