Review budget for next year

Dr. Worner shared the projected budget for 2002-2003. Your SILT representative has this information if you care to see it. She explained codes and their use. In her explanation, she stated there may be changes in the budget and it will be formalized by the end of June. She suggested $825.00 be set aside for Title I teachers to replace materials used by classroom teachers and for purchasing new Title I materials. The committee unanimously agreed this would be a good decision. She doesn’t expect a change in Latchkey’s margin of profit. She asked the committee to offer any suggestions for changes. She also told the committee about an after school program offered to third graders next year through the County Health Department. A discussion was held regarding hiring someone to make copies for teachers, with the bulk being done before or after school.

Review parent brochure

SILT facilitator, Ms.Warner, shared a parent brochure compiled by the Family Support Committee. Coordinator of this committee, Lori Coffey, asked that SILT review the brochure and offer feedback regarding any suggestions. The intent of the brochure is to help parents have a better understanding of programs and academic support and would be given out at the beginning of the school year. SILT members felt it could be condensed. Please ask any SILT member if you care to see the brochure and want to offer suggestions.

Review Parent survey responses

As a result of reviewing the parent survey responses, it became evident that some changes need to take place in our school improvement plan. A discussion was held regarding these changes and one of the most evident changes that needs to be addressed is the lunch schedule. Dr. Worner said lunch periods next year will be 11:35-12:20 p.m. and 12:25-1:10 p.m.

Schedule Team Membership

Mrs. Wormer, Mrs. Ranney, Mrs. Young, Mrs. Elliot and Mrs. Cooper have volunteered to serve as members of the scheduling committee for next year. If you have any specific scheduling concerns or suggestions, please see a member of this committee.

District SILT Survey

The SILT committee concluded the meeting by taking District 108’s SILT survey in order to provide input that will support the district’s strategic planning.
