Questions Raised for Discussion

A question was raised about passing a sign up sheet for those in attendance at SILT meetings. Members felt a need to document attendees for the purpose of recertification. A discussion followed regarding the existence of such a form on our district’s web page. Kelly Warner volunteered to pass a sign up sheet and attendance will be documented in future SILT minutes.

Are teachers at Smith interested in doing an all school awareness activity in order to prepare the children for Scott Altman’s February flight?

Do SILT members feel the need to have DILT minutes shared at our meetings?

Has a decision been made about teachers wearing ID badges at Smith? Nothing is definite at this time.

DILT Team Visit February 20th – 21st

The DILT team will be visiting C.B. Smith School February 20th-21st. They’ll spend 2 days talking to teachers, students and parents and ranking our school according to specific information gleaned form their visit. Cindy shared a documentation of items, which was compiled by the SIP team and the SILT facilitator. This document corresponds to the appropriate Performance Excellence Criteria, which is an internal review of the 7 components of a quality school. Cindy referred to it as the Baldridge Model. It will be available for viewing on Smith’s web page by February.

Cindy stated people might be wandering in and out of our rooms and we should not worry. She said we’re at the beginning stages and feels there is no need to feel pressure, yet we need to use this document for a model and periodically check it. SILT members spent time editing the document.
