PTA Executive Board Minutes

January 8, 2003

5:30 – 7:15 p.m.

PTA officers in attendance:  Karen Frazier, Stacy Snoble, and Shelly Bastean.

Others in attendance:  Marj Oesch, Sandy Morrow, Denise Rendon, Tami Hyatt, Wendy Watson and husband, Teri Grant, Mrs. Legge, Mary Galvin, and Joe Kammerer from Mister Z’s fund raising.

The meeting was called to order at 5:30.

Shelly Bastean submitted the Treasurer’s Report and collected receipts for various re-imbursements.  She will pay $135.00 to the Illinois PTA for liability insurance.

Karen Frazier reported the playground equipment has not been shipped because Gametime is waiting for a cash payment but the school is paying with a purchase order that cannot be paid until delivery.  To resolve this matter,

Gametime will ship the equipment within the next several days and the $350.00 cash discount will be lost.  The PTA will split this additional cost with the school.

The problems with the Crystal Vision printer cartridges have been settled.  More cartridges need to be ordered to satisfy needs until the end of the year.

Denise Rendon reported Menards is considering a request to supply the soft fill to surround the new playground equipment.

Students from Mrs. Ronna’s and Mrs. Arms’ classes will receive free popcorn and pencils for having the most soup labels and boxtops for November and December.  Tami Hyatt and Wendy Watson will arrange a date with the teacher.

Stacy Snoble will order an additional scoop to fill popcorn bags on PTA popcorn/pencil days.

Joe Kammerer gave a presentation about fundraising with Mister Z’s complete with samples of pizza and pie.  He said typically one food and one non-food brochure are run simultaneously.  The non-food items have 50% profit and the profit on the food items varies from about 40% - 48%.  The orders are delivered to the school pre-sorted in labeled boxes for each student.  Sales can also be conducted online to non-local customers and shipped to them for an additional fee.

Plans were made for Family Game Night to be held February 13 from 6:00 – 7:30.  PTA will provide popcorn and donations for 2 liter bottles of soda will be solicited from parents.  PTA will also purchase several games to be given away by drawing at the end of the evening.  School secretary Mary Galvin said she would send home a note containing pertinent information.

Mrs. Reiling, the latchkey teacher, has requested some new games.  Karen Frazier reported she had bought several already and others in attendance said they would donate some as well.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:15 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Stacy Snoble
