Executive Board Minutes
November 13, 2002
5:30 – 7:00 p.m.
PTA
officers in attendance: Karen Frazier,
Stacy Snoble, Jackie Steger, and Shelly Bastean.
Others
in attendance: Len Ealey, Marj Oesch, Sandy Morrow, Lori Faichney,
Nancy Brenneman, Chris Underwood, Melissa Flier, Denise Rendon, Tami
Hyatt, Tracie Linson, Wendy Watson, and
Don Roberts from GameTime playground equipment.
The
meeting was called to order at 5:30.
Shelly
Bastean submitted the Treasurer’s Report and stated that approximately $1600.00
remained uncollected from the Club’s Choice fundraiser project but that money
was still coming in. She has paid the
Club’s Choice bill. Mrs. Krohn’s class
had the highest dollar sales and will receive a pizza party. Mrs. Vertrees class had 100% participation
and Mrs. Oesch’s class had the highest percentage participation and each will
receive a giant candy bar.
Nancy
Brenneman reported the Campbell’s soup label and General Mills boxtop
collection competition among the classrooms was underway. Each month the classroom with the most will
receive free popcorn and pencils. The
overall winning classroom at the end of the year will win a pizza party. Nancy will be collecting and tabulating the
totals, as well as redeeming the labels and boxtops.
Mr.
Ealey reported the Accelerated Reader program is being used by grades 1-3 and
is receiving positive reviews. The
program is tied to the Read Across America project.
Chris
Underwood and Melissa Flier reported that donations are being collected for the
Christmas raffle.
Tami
Hyatt proposed having a candle sale at the Christmas Celebration. It was decided this would violate a contract
we have with Santa’s Secret Shop and that it could be a possibility for the
garage sale to be held in the spring.
We would also allow other stands to be set up for sales such as
Tupperware and Avon.
Denise
Rendon reported the cartridge collection for Funding Factory is going well.
Holiday
pencils have been ordered from The Oriental Trading Company and school logo
pencils have been order from Jeff Oesch.
The pencils are sold for $.25 on pencil/popcorn days.
The playground equipment originally chosen did not meet district requirements so an alternative needs to be chosen. Don Roberts of GameTime presented a scaled down version of the Trailblazer complete with drawings and an estimate. He discussed other options such as custom designing a piece of equipment with elements of our choosing and buying a base piece that would accept additions in the future. After his presentation, Mr. Roberts left and a playground committee agreed to meet at 8:00 a.m. November 16 in the learning center to make a final decision.
The
meeting was adjourned at 7:00 p.m.
Jackie
Steger met with Shelly Bastean after the meeting to answer any questions
concerning Santa’s Secret Shop.
Respectfully submitted,
Stacy Snoble
