Welcome! It was great to see new faces.

We will be having our Fundraiser with Katherine Beich this year.

Kick off---October 6 Orders Due---October 20th

Delivery/Pick up---November 18th Money Due---December 2nd

Prize Day---December 19th

This year’s goal is $25,000. If we meet the sales goal Mr. Ealey will be put in a dunk tank and every participant will get a shot at dunking him. All participants get a chance to win one of the many prizes.

The Fall Festival will be on October 23rd from 6:00 to 7:30pm. It is a fundraiser for the teachers and a lot of fun for the students and their families. The PTA sells the tickets then disperses the $ to the teachers after the tickets are turned in.

Volunteers are needed to round up donations for the raffle that will be at the Christmas program. Dawn Hartley volunteered to chair the committee to get donations. Wendy Watson and Chris Underwood volunteered to help.

Popcorn/pencil sales chairperson, Wendy Watson asked for volunteers. Dawn Hartley volunteered to help. If you are interested in helping please contact Wendy. Popcorn/pencil sales are once per month.

This is the first year that we are making a student directory, which will be useful for finding volunteers, sending invitations to birthday parties, etc. Forms must be turned in by October 3rd.

BoxTops and Campbell’s Soup labels chairperson, Nancy Brenemen, reminded us to look at the packet that came home concerning promotions and products that will help earn the school money and supplies. Also included in the packet is How to cut the labels.

We will continue to collect printer cartridges and cell phones for recycling. Please place cartridges in Ziploc bags before placing in the recycle box at school.

Cans are still being collected for recycling—more $ for school!

Kmart has a School Spirit promotion. If you shop there you can sign up to get a card. Every time you use it you will earn funds for Starke School.

Stacy Snoble will check into participating in the Bergners Community Day in the spring.

Mr. Ealey told us about the theme for this year at Starke. The Adventure Begins! Students will read their way around the world in 2 years. Last year they made it across America and celebrated on the roof! This year the kick off was at the riverfront. There is a map in the hallway with a boat starting in Pekin that will travel the oceans and Africa. Mr. Ealey also asked for parental support at home and in the classrooms. Feel free to call Mr. Ealey, Mary Galvin, or Wendy Watson to be a part of the adventure.

Mr. Ealey requested that we align our PTA sponsored activities with The Adventure Begins and "No child left behind" steps to success.

Reading and writing scores jumped 37% last year at Starke. Wonderful!!!

We chose the T-shirt design for this year. T-Shirt House is donating the screens. Order forms are out and due by October 27th.

Bradley has offered us reduced price tickets to basketball games. We would have to get at least 25 people to purchase tickets. Saturday, January 17 against Southern IL will be Starke Family night. Tickets are $3.00 each. We will have a sign up sheet at conferences.

We will tie in the end of the year Fun Day with The Adventure if the reading goal is met. We will check into getting an Elephant. Shh!

We discussed the possibility of a making a school cookbook to be sold in time for Mothers day.

Mr. Ealey has requested a Marquis in front of the school to be used to remind parents of upcoming events. Sandy Morrow is checking into prices.

Amy Dickey will be checking on an additional fundraiser. Look for info in the future.

The next meeting will be on October 6th at 5:30 in the learning center. There will be babysitting.
