| Quality
Assurance Visit
(Bill Link)- |
NO |
The Quality Assurance visit will most likely be Mar. 7 & 8. SILT will be heavily involved. Starke will be assessed in 7 specific areas. The quality assurance group will shadow a student, we will have a parent focus group, staff focus group, PTA focus group, school leadership team interview, meet with student assistance team, debriefing session with principal & school leadership team facilitator. We are trying to provide accountability to the state with this visit. Information was provided as framework to help distinguish a quality school vs. a "traditional" school. |
| Pekin
Pride Action Team Report
(Pam Xanos/Chris Onken)- |
YES |
Linda Stoner has compiled a book with patriotic photos of Starke staff & students. The actual take off of Scott Altman’s flight is questionable at this point due to the situation with Afghanistan. We will have a visit from Pekin Pom Pom students, possibly from the Notables, maybe Pekin basketball players. We may be able to have a spring activity in conjunction with the Pekin Park District (Dragonland, mini-golf, maybe a scavenger hunt.) The action Team has scheduled a meeting for October 16. Everyone was in agreement with the planning that has been done so far. Also, the group agreed that it would be reasonable to occasionally have more than one activity per month. |
| Fall
Festival Planning
(Mary Galvin)- |
YES |
Fall Festival is scheduled for Thursday, 10/25 from 6:00-7:30pm. A reminder note to parents will go home next week. The group decided where each grade level will hold their activities. Some activities will be in the gym area while other activities will be in classrooms. First & second grades will be in classrooms, possibly Room 7 (Jill Vertrees) & Room 9 (Music Room). Bill will speak with Jo Sommer & Jill Vertrees about using their classrooms as they are just around the corner from the office & that may keep the traffic out of the hallways and out of other classrooms. |
| Tech Club Ideas (Marj Oesch / Jeanne Smith)- |
YES |
Angie Arnold conducted a Tech Club meeting attended by Marj. Angie requests that Tech Club projects are visible in the building. It was proposed that perhaps these club members assist teachers with their web pages & take pictures during assemblies for use on the web pages. We could also use these students for web page clean-up (updating information & inputting more current photos on some pages). The group agreed with the proposed tech club projects and format for the activity. |
| Feedback
on Halloween Changes and Plan Details
(Marj Oesch)- |
NO |
To date, no feedback has been received either way with regard to the Halloween activities. One more note about inappropriate costumes will be sent home before Halloween. We will check into prices for orange rice krispie treats and we would just let the kids have water. The school will provide paper cups. |

This program could help us tie in technology with our reading curriculum and support our literacy groups. We may purchase this package in the future. The program can also coordinate with our Language Arts series. We are currently trying to obtain some demo disks for staff members to investigate this program to see if it’s something we want to pursue. If the staff believes the program would be helpful they might be asked to help provide funds to finance along with PTA to assist with the cost. The best package is around $4000.00 |
