TOPIC ISSUE RESOLUTION RESPONSIBLE

Starke Clock Issue Starke clocks are set about 5 minutes late in order help eliminate some of the after school congestion in the bus area. Our early buses can be here & gone with our early bus kids by the time the majority of our children dismiss at 3:10/3:15 with our clocks running a few minutes late. It is a safety issue with our focus on keeping the children safe. Another consideration is that we need to come to a compromise with the other buildings that are serviced by the bus companies regarding pick up times. We will put a small blurb in the Compass reminding staff, and also in our December newsletter to parents reminding them of the time difference. Bill and Mary

The Bosnia Project Jeanne is hard at work on this project. She is to hear soon from the woman who runs this project In lieu of teacher gifts we will be requesting that children bring small items to school such as gloves, hats, scarves for Bosnian refugees and orphans. An article will be placed in the December newsletter, hopefully before children go shopping for teacher and staff gifts. When we get more specifics from the woman in charge of this project we will send a note home to children & parents.

Facility Needs Report Improvements to our building that need to be made. Improve gym area (acoustically). Sidewalk in front of the school needs some work, due to buckling. Water and plumbing problems exist in several areas of the building. The district is considering some changes Bill Link and District 108

Mission Statement Process Discussion of how mission statement was revised. Bill discussed the mission statement process & how the staff met to see what our Starke School mission statement should be. Bill Link

Vision Development Process IStarke School does not currently have a vision. We are currently working on developing a vision for our school. We would like to agree on a vision statement by January or February of 2001. SILT agrees to work on this vision in the manner suggested by Mr. Link. SILT and Bill. Link

Holiday Activities Revision to Halloween Party and Holiday Celebration. Some possible changes were suggested in regard to the Halloween celebration (costumes/parade) and our Saturday Starke School Holiday Celebration. Bill suggested including some learning in our fall/Halloween event that takes place during this special school day. An Action Team will be formed to address possible changes in these events. Members of this team will be Bill Link, Mrs. Brenneman, Mrs. Wamsley, & Mrs. Grant. We will also attempt to involve PTA in these possible changes. Spirit Days A schedule needs to be set up for monthly Fridays as a special day. A monthly Friday will be set up for a special day (sports shirt team day, red shirt day, hat day, etc.)
