Summary
Quality Assurance Preparation Update No Chris Onken gave a brief review of how the Quality Assurance activity went at Edison.  We will have 10 or 11 individuals come to evaluate our building on March 7.  These individuals will visit classes randomly.  All classrooms can plan on receiving an informal visit from a Quality Team member for some portion of the day.  The next SILT meeting will be on March 6 at 5:30. This meeting will be the Quality Assurance interview. The interview will be in lieu of the regular March meeting.
Classified Substitute Use Proposal Yes We would like to utilize Heather Closen more productively, both to provide her with more time in the classrooms & also to assist all classes more evenly.  A schedule has been set up for Heather to sub in classrooms during literacy times.  Unless she has been previously scheduled in a classroom, you can plan on using her for your scheduled literacy time.  When individuals call in sick for an unplanned absence Heather may need to be pulled from your literacy time, but for the most part, she will be working in classrooms with literacy on a daily basis.  Each Friday Heather's schedule will be posted, showing if she is unavailable.  The group approved this proposal
Review Process for Upcoming Conferences and Parent Surveys No Prior to their actual conference time,  parents are being asked to complete a brief 15 minute district survey. After completing the survey parents will proceed to their child's classroom for the actual conference.

KG- Room 3 (Mrs. George's Classroom) To Classroom for Conference

1st Grade-Room 5 (Mrs. Bailey's Classroom) – To Classroom for Conference

2nd & 3rd Grades-Learning Center – to Classroom for Conference.

If parents feel uncomfortable completing the online survey, Starke Staff members will be available to help them with completion of the survey.  Parents can complete a hard copy survey if they wish.  The Starke staff will then input the answers into the computer.

Young Author Celebration  Yes 1st, 2nd, & 3rd Grades have all agreed they would like to have a Young Author Celebration from 2:15-3:00 on Wednesday, February 27.  Teachers are to plan their own classroom "celebration" after an assembly announcing "winners", then students will go back to their respectiveclassrooms or other classrooms to read as a “special guest” reader.  KG will not attend the assembly but would like to have “guest readers” from other classrooms.
Pekin Pride Essay Contest Yes The group agreed on a school-wide writing activity related to the space shuttle launch.  There will be one "winner" from each classroom who will be awarded a  NASA patch.  We will announce these "winners" at the Feb. 27 Young Authors assembly.  Each classroom'ss winning paper needs to be given to Heather Closen by Feb. 26.  The classroom winning papers will be displayed in the foyer.
Issue Bin Itemsbbb PCHS Student Council PCHS student council would like to present a "Dr. Seuss" skit on March 4.  It is a 45 minute presentation.  We would like to have them present twice if possible.  They have offered us times of 10:00, 11:00, & 1:00.  We will talk to them about presenting a little earlier and provide feedback to the staff.
