Personnel Update for 2001-2002 District 108 had to eliminate $1,000,000 from their budget. Four Jr. High teacher positions, 3 intermediate teacher positions, & 2 elementary level teacher positions are being eliminated.  Starke School may be affected if a teacher from another building is displaced. Bill will keep us posted on updates.
Review of schedule Important dates The schedule reviewing important dates for the balance of this school year were discussed. Bill and Mary will keep staff posted on any date changes.
Title 1 Update Cathy Helman presented a report regarding use of Title money and the state's guidelines.  The WTR assistant  and Learning Center assistant will both now fall under the heading of Title I.  These individuals will be woreking with Cathy and Linda.making sureTitle students receive the necessary services stipulated in the Title Grant.  We need to be able to document that the Learning Center Title Assistant and Title Assistant are working with these students towards their goals as Title money pays for the salaries of these individuals.  We will no longer have a district supported WTR program.  Software will still be available however the lab will be dismantled. More discussion of this issue will be focused on during our building meeting on April 25.
Technology 6 computer in the WTR lab. The group unanimously agreed that the current WTR lab (6computer) will eventually be placed in the Learning Center.  The goal is to have an entire classroom lab.  Labs cannot be set up in the classrooms as the ports in classrooms are currently at a maximum.  Our overall goal is to support our literacy goal and our SAI goal.  We have many resources available.  Further discussion April 25.
Class List Development New process for class
lists
The group was in agreement that Mr. Link should pursue the development and implementation of a new process to create class lists and solicit information from parents regarding student placement.  It was proposed that the initial class lists would be developed this spring before school actually  dismisses.  We would like to send home some type of a questionaire regarding student needs to be completed by parents in early May.  Parents will be asked input related specifically to their child's needs and not request a specific person.  OUr goal is to match these student needs with specific teachers, based upon our understanding of students needs and parents understanding of student needs. Bill will keep staff informed of information gathered for classlists.
Summer Work Schedule Ken Memken and Mr. Link will be meeting in late April to discuss summer building projects. Some of the proposed projects are: replace main sidewalk, install window air conditioner/heating unit in teacher's lounge, replace toilet in room 1, enlarge the parking lot on the south side of building, and improve acoustics in the gym. Summer work crew.
Summer School 2 weeks in June and 2 in August. Morning only progrm.  All summer school students referred have to have been through the STAT process. No funding for special education students.  The STAT team will rank order our Starke students who are referred to summer school.  We do not have an assigned number of slots available will be largely determined by the number of teachers.  Right now there is a need for summer school teachers. Bill will keep everyone updated on summer school procedures..
