| SILT Process
(Marj Oesch) |
Yes | Marj facilitated a discusion regarding the SILT survey that was received from stafff late last school year. The overall results will be shared with staff following this meeting. Question such as - who each member represents and who each member reports back to were addressed. Staff members are to report their concerns and issues to SILT members and then communicated to Marj or Bill to be considered for the agenda. To be considered for the agenda a concern or issue should represernt a school wide issue or concern. The SILT committee will continue to send out minutes on a timely basis. We would like to have more staff members take leadership positions and welcome staff members to attend SILT meetings. The group came to agreement on the process for communicating to and from SILT. Each representative will review the process with their stakeholder group. |
| Professional Development
(Bill Link) |
Yes | We established guidelines for participating in professional development activities. The group agreed to support guidelines that promote visiting schools who have put into practive things we are working on and limit conferences to those that are absolutely aligned to a practical aspect of our program development and implementation. This will allow us to see established, programs at work while we are still in the development process. bill will summarize the guidelines and compile a list miscellaneous activities, types of activities, or area schools with speciffic programs that would be worth investigating. |
| Thematic Unit
Pekin Pride (Bill Link) |
Yes | We agreeded to establish a cross-graded level action team that will contact community leaders, organize events, and basically oversee thee "town pride" thematic unit. So far, respective SILT members Carol Krohn, Pam Xanos, and Chris Onken are helping organize theme related activities. We are looking for other teachers to help plan and facilitate the activities. The idea is that we would try to plan an activity every month related to the theme. |
| Halloween Activities
(Marj Oesch) |
Yes | The group agreed that the costume categories should be broad as possible. The idea is that children bringing a storrybook somehow relating to their costume.. This order to integrate fun and learning on this inevitable hectic day. For children who do not have a book, perhaps they can draw a picture and write a grade level appropriate story, somehow relating to their costume. We will communicate this to parents in the next newsletter and in aa separate note later in October. It is never too early to start the discussion with your class. |
