Instructor’s Role |
|
One of the many benefits of webquesting includes the
opportunity for students to act as independent learners, creative
thinkers, and problem solvers. The teacher’s role is one of “facilitator.” The
teacher is available to assist, guide, and sometimes clearly direct students,
however, the emphasis of the experience is to allow children to develop effective
processing and critical thinking skills. Often, when asked a question that has a clear and visible
answer, it is acceptable to encourage students to take a few more moments,
think over the issue, and try to solve it on their own. Much more often, than not, they discover the
answer by concentrating their efforts in this way. This is teaching our
students to think for themselves ~ a very important life skill! |
